A study conducted by Russell Investment Group found that since the inception of the list in 1998, stocks on the “100 Best Companies to Work For” list
returned five times as much to investors as the broad market.
The Forum for People Performance Management & Measurement shared the following Key Findings:
- The key organizational characteristic for explaining employee satisfaction is organizational communication (a measure of the downward and upward communication in an organization).
- Employee satisfaction is a key antecedent to employee engagement.
- Organizational culture was another significant driver of employee engagement.
- When individuals and teams are competing to implement the optimal behaviors oriented to the market and its customers, such competition can work to the advantage of both the organization and its customers.
- Organizations with engaged employees have customers who use their products more, and increased customer usage leads to higher levels of customer satisfaction.
- It is the organization’s employees who influence the behavior and attitudes of customers, and it is customers who drive an organization’s profitability through the purchase and use of its products.

“There is no formula to relationships. They have to be negotiated in loving ways, with room for both parties, what they want and what they need, what they can do and what their life is like.
In business, people negotiate to win. They negotiate to get what they want. Maybe you’re too used to that. Love is different. Love is when you are concerned about someone else’s situation as you are about your own.” “The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.”
Deep down, we all want to know, “What do I mean to you my friend, my child, my love?”
A great book about a man who was loved and respected by many.

WAY TO GO!
Fern Silver created an effective formula to reinforce the Skills, Knowledge, Attitudes and Behaviors of employees at recent Cook County Clerk of Courts
Anthropomaximologist™ Sessions. Integrating bright colored imprinted Post-It Notes™ with the copy
WAY TO GO…Anthropomaximologist™ participants learned how little things mean a lot to people. Each piece of paper had a specific compliment or accomplishment describing the skill, knowledge, attitude or behavior of an employee and what it meant to the customer, organization or the manager. The participants quickly filled a wall full of praise. Then, each team created a work of art with the
Post-It Notes™ that represented a unique symbol of performance and excellence.

wall)
As we brainstormed and discussed the elements of value in the organization and what we mean to people, we discovered something quite powerful. Every record, every piece of paper represents a life! We encouraged every manager to continue to share this valuable discovery with every employee; to share how important they are to the organization and how they impact the lives of every human being. When we discovered the devastation of making a mistake and literally putting someone behind bars who did not belong there, a new level of respect filled the room. We also emphasized the positive outcomes for families, children, and individuals who have been assisted, protected, and guided to a higher quality of life.
Outcome: A new focus on reinforcements by management increased morale, improved performance and renewed the value for the work done.
